release 1.19.3 – enhanced twitter support

Thanks to a great number of requests I have added my first take on enhancing the twitter sharing.  There is still more to come when I work it out, but for now this is where it will be till I do.

To use the features it’s pretty simple. Here is the priority order by which the system will work

  1. “twitter_text” custom field setting inside a page or post
  2. Default URL prefix
  3. Title + URL or Clean URL

Twitter text inside a page or post takes priority, then the global default URL prefix, then finally the Title + URL or Clean URL.

Also there may be on some systems a problem with the Page Exclusion where it has lost some settings, if your having problems, just re-do your settings and all will be fine.

All the best
Andy

  1. Hey, Andy! I love the work you’ve been doing and all the updates! Thanks a ton.

Something’s funky on my site due to a recent update, though. Check out the front page and scroll down, you’ll see what I mean. Within individual post pages it’s fine, but on the home page, I’m getting some code displayed. Any thoughts?

    • Hey Rob,

I’m working on a fix as I type this… Just doing some testing before release. But could you double check your settings to make sure you have no HTML in your popup text settings??

thanks for showing me your site

  2. Nope, no HTML code. Let me know if there’s anything else I can clarify. Shoot me an email, too, if you’d like. Thanks again for your great work.

  3. Thanks for your work, Andy. I’ve updated the plugin, but still no luck. Shoot me an email if you need a poke around from the inside. My server’s down this second – I just contacted tech support and it should be up soon. But it’s still showing the code on the front page. Again, I appreciate all your work!

  4. One more thing I noticed: I just updated my blog, and the front page loaded just fine in Firefox on my Mac. But on my wife’s PC with IE, the new post wouldn’t show up on the front page (though she could view it by entering the post’s URL directly, or get to it by clicking the Categories list on the right). Disabling your plug in though fixed this. Additional note that may help: W3 Total Cache was also installed recently. Do you think it may in fact be causing the conflict somehow, and not a recent update? Just trying to help you out. I’ve disabled the plug in for now, but shoot me a note if you want me to re-enable it and you want to see how it looks.
